The result of Gillian Allnutt’s six months as writer in residence for the North East centre of The Medical Foundation for the Care of the Victims of Torture, this book is varied and interesting in format. The clients’ – victims’ – work is interspersed with extracts from Gillian’s diary as well as insights from counsellors. All of the proceeds from sales will go to The Medical Foundation.
