My daughter was given this book, but I started to read it before she did and had to beg her indulgence while I finished it. I found it interesting, amusing, informative and instructive. I was a little disappointed that John-Paul’s spiritual search seemed to tail off a bit towards the end of the book - or at least less was written about it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, nevertheless.
Years ago, at a Home Educator’s festival, I realised that however many pairs of trouser, shoes, tops we have, even the richest among us can only wear one set at a time. Better quality and not just more, more, more might serve us and the planet best, as well as making it more likely that craftsmen who make lovely things well by hand, will stay in business.
I think this book would be a wonderful gift for just about anyone, but certainly it will make those who perhaps don’t think much about who is making their clothes and shoes, think a little more deeply about it.
