Dorothy Day visits Ireland Yearly Meeting
This journey has been both internal and external. A week ago I was in the States dreaming of being among Irish Friends. I knew that Ireland Yearly Meeting (8 to 11 April) was just a little bigger than my own Yearly Meeting in Illinois. Our Yearly Meeting meets in a large white wooden building on the prairie surrounded by soybean and corn (maize) fields. So I began to imagine that Ireland Yearly Meeting would take place in a large white-washed building, with a long winding road through the peat bogs to reach the Meeting. Later as I looked at the registration material I realised with excitement that we were going to meet at a Friends’ school. That way I would see two aspects of Irish Friends at the same time.
