About Us

Welcome to The Friend Publications!

We publish magazines and books with a Quaker focus. We’ve been around since 1843, when the first edition of the Friend magazine appeared. Over 180 years later, every week we’re still producing news, features, personal stories, arts, humour and friendship – helping you keep up to date with contemporary Quaker thought and action.

We also produce:

  • the Friends Quarterly, which offers readers longer form pieces around a core topic
  • a podcast
  • books
  • an archive of every edition of the Friend published during the first world war.

The Friend Publications Ltd is based in Britain. Our trustees are all Quakers, drawn from local Meetings across Britain Yearly Meeting and appointed through our own nominations process. We are a separate charity, reg no. 211649, governmentally and editorially independent from any other Quaker body.

Wayfaring: A Guide To Guidance

"If you truly want to be led you must put yourself in a position that allows following" (PYM)

Though written within a Quaker and Christian context, this book can be used by anyone of any religious faith or secular inclination. The only requirement is a desire to follow, to be guided by, to align with the richness of the ineffable, which this book calls "the Way". This book seeks nothing less than to aid readers in aligning their lives with the same power and richness that animated the life of Jesus of Nazareth.
