Well over a hundred people are holding beer glasses in the air and belting out the hymn ‘Thine be the glory’. It would be a surprise in the beer tent at any other festival, but after two days at Greenbelt, it seems normal.

Drawing over 20,000 visitors during the August bank holiday weekend, Greenbelt is one of Britain’s largest Christian events. Its fans describe it as open-minded, challenging, prophetic and critics accuse it of leading Christians astray by giving a platform to ‘unbiblical’ ideas and gay rights activists.
