As Quaker Concern for the Abolition of Torture (Q-CAT) prepares for its seminar at Woodbrooke in April on the theme ‘Ending Torture: the Next Steps’, news of the corrupting influence of torture on national and international life continues to escalate.

Hexham and Stocksfield Quakers, working with Northumbrians for Peace will be hearing from Ian Cobain, Senior Guardian journalist on “Investigating the UK’s role in the illegal detention and torture of terrorism suspects next Saturday as part of our season of the Hexham Debates. We will later (July) be hearing from Phil Shiner on “The UK’s human rights violations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
