Friends are urged to take a 'virtual tour' of the UK's detention centres

The Quaker Asylum and Refugee Network (QARN) is urging Friends to support Unlocking Detention – ‘a virtual tour’ of the UK’s detention centres that is currently offering a spotlight on the hidden world of immigration detention.

The #Unlocked17 ‘tour’ runs until 22 December. Each week one detention centre is highlighted. Using social media, people share experiences of the week’s detention centre (either from being detained or knowing or supporting someone who has) and their views on immigration detention in the UK.

QARN, in a statement, said: ‘The UK is the only country in Europe that does not have a maximum time limit on how long someone can be detained. Indefinite detention has a severe, damaging impact on those who are subjected to it.’
