Britain still has a role to play says CND
Friends and other campaigners have given a warm welcome to a deal between the US and Russian governments that will see major cuts in nuclear arsenals. But there have been warnings that the UK government is failing to show the same level of commitment.
US president Barack Obama and Russian president Dmitry Medvedev announced that they had agreed on a treaty that will limit each country’s nuclear warheads to a maximum of 1,550. Each is thought currently to own more than 2,000.
