Government scraps AI copyright exemption

The UK government has ditched its plan to introduce an ‘opt out’ exemption to copyright for artificial intelligence (AI) training. Campaigners, including some Friends, had criticised the ‘opt-out’ model which would have obliged rights holders to explicitly say they do not want their work used to train AI models.
